The solar industry is set to revolutionize the way we get our energy just as the Internet and cell phones transformed communication. Combine the two and you have clean, reliable and affordable energy, all while preserving our precious open spaces.
For homeowners, the California Solar Initiative and home loan programs make it very affordable to install a home solar system. And, solar actually pays for itself – only 12.5 years for a typical system. More importantly, energy bill savings often equal or surpass monthly loan payments. A similar incentive for solar hot water heating has just become available, and with our state's emphasis on global warming, we can be sure more programs are on the way.
For businesses, the switch to solar is easy, cost-effective and practical. In a new business model, solar companies install panels on business rooftops for free, then sell the electricity back to the business at rates equal to or below standard utility rates. The solar company also handles all the certifications and other paperwork, making this a simple way for businesses to protect themselves against future rate spikes and claim "green credentials," all with no capital outlay.
